Day 2 Taiwan - Feng Jia Night Market

I wish I'm a cow, 4 stomach

After some rest, time is approaching the night. Night Market here we come! The best is that it is weekend, which will be crowded with people and stalls!
Waling to the night market
Night market, which start at 5pm, and this photo is taken around 530pm. Is winter season, night come sooner than usual.
Crowded
Prepare for some delicious food porn!

Jackie Chan Fried Chicken?
A fluffy steamed bun filled with tender roast duck with gravy, worth the que.

The que took a long time, about 15 mins. Worth the wait because it is delicious. Especially the sweet sauce.
Potato skin with cheese, potato, mayo, and the meat/vege of your choice.
Most of the stall here are allowed highly customise food, choose the flavour and fillings you like.
Stinky Toufu. Totally different from Hong Kong and Malaysia.
It is not stinky at all from my taste. Maybe because I love stinky toufu, is like someone thinks durian is smelly because they don't like it. But this is crispy and juicy and sweet.
Less Stinky Toufu :)
After some addiction of me on stinky-ness, we head to the indoor part of the market, you hear me right, indoor.
Cheap and HUGE portion of steak! NTD 200 per set.
It's actually the conversion of the morning market into the night market. If you notice, in Malaysia we have such indoor pasar too. Is the same as this, just they use it for the night market. I think is very smart of this because indoor in everything is smart. (Not a outgoing guy)
Not so good chicken roll
Auricularia auricula-judae or Jew's ear, wood ear, jelly ear or 木耳 juice, pretty delich.
This I have to recommend. You don't get to drink this at all in Malaysia. Taste like normal sweet juice or tong sui(糖水), it also cures the hotness of our body. Many local recommend this, and we like it. Try it, it is located in the indoor part of Feng Jia market.
Pizza Crepe
Ok, this also one of the famous food in the night market. I saw this on TVBS 时尚玩家 which is a Taiwan famous food and travel show recommend this. It is a pizza roll into a crepe. Perfect cheese and sauce, and the crust is just awesome. Especially the crust, you can taste/smell the creamy milk, just out of the league. Highly recommended.
Deep fried mushroom
Then we head back outside. Holy the crowd just multiplied.

Ok, here comes the highlight of the night. Cheap and delicious strawberries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is so red that I think I have my filters on.
3 grade of strawberry they are selling, A B and C. A cost NTD100 per cup which is super sweet, B NTD100 2 cups - medium sweet and C NTD 100 3 cups - less sweet. I bought B and C just to compare, and yup B is much sweeter. In fact, I'll be more precise on this. The grade is based on the maturity of the strawberry. B is much larger and more coloured saturated than C, more juicy than C and also more sweet.
I had 2 cups of it. It just, so god damn cheap and tasty.
Famous fried sweet potato ball
The que is massive, we have to wait around 45 mins. Since it's a must eat food, we'll just wait. In the mean this, we notice a little stall just behind this.
Pig Blood cake
Pig blood is consider a delicacies in some of the countries namely Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea and etc. I just have to try one.
My friends doesn't want to try this, so I solo the whole thing.
Pig blood cake with peanut and cilantro
I saw the owner dip it with special sauce then coat with peanut and cilantro. Taste like bbq sauce.
I offer them to try it out, they just NEIN on me. It is chewy and sweet and taste just good and nothing fishy or exotic about it.
Face with enjoyment? It is hot
Ok, the bear paw. Ladies should be crazy about it since it was featured in many magazine, tv shows and social network. Yes we did try it of course, but unfortunately is taste normal and nothing special about it. We get the red bean one which is the signature, and the bun is hard, red bean is not cooked enough and the red bean taste is not that appealing.
Not as good as it was described or featured
As we walking back after some serious food hunting, we saw this. Papaya milk shake.
Papaya Milk shake
It taste as it was promoted. Again hardly find such great papaya milk shake in Malaysia. Just try it, any stall, any place in Taiwan, they all as just as good, even the 7-11 bottled one taste better than Malaysia's home-made. Might due to the good papaya in Taiwan.

Just beside the stall, there's a unique stall. A handsome teenager selling salty chicken.
Translate as salt water chicken
The owner is like a martial arts in China, a ninja in Japan. His cutting skills is over 9000. If I had recorded this, it would blown your mind.

By using just a scissor and a small knife, he can thorn the quarter chicken into bits. Precise cooking and cutting skill.
It was for the good show, it taste bad.
Famous deep fried boneless drumstick then roast with special sauce
We can't just go home without the.... 大肠包小肠! Big sausage in a small sausage. We asked the locals since there 2 stall beside, which one is better. What we get in replied was, both are great, came from the same origin, just different boss and different style. Both are long que.
We are gamer, we always use the art of war Sun Tzu, split push!(League and Dota 2 reference). 2 que for stall A and 2 que for stall B.
Stall A, critically claimed as the original
Stall B, critically claimed as the most famous
Both taste great.

We pretty much end our day 2 here with food in our hotel, chit chat, drink and eat and watch some tv before we sleep.
