Day 7 Taiwan - Hipster

What do youngster eat?

Is Taipei! The city of traditions and modern youngsters. As a typical Malaysian, where we are multicultural, we get to choose roti canai, nasi lemak, variety of noodles, western, capati, and much much more. Common Malaysian problem is, we always in headache to choose what type of food we wanted to have since we have so much to choose from. How about in Taiwan where they are less multicultural? We'll see.

But first, in day 7 - we woke as early as 7am and get prepared for your guide-less trip. Pack up the essential, jackets, umbrella, water, camera, etc and lets go!

The huge interlinked subway station of Taipei, it is a hall cum subway stations!
Taiwan subway system is just freaking awesome. May be I have not seen other countries's, but this is an eye opener for us. There's a mall inside which spread around 8-10 stations I think, is so huge that if we miss 1 or 2 stations and walk back via the underground passage, if would take us 30 mins. Yes we done that.

First stop, 故宫(National Palace Museum).
Lobby of National Palace Meseum
You can easily reach this place by taking railway - station National Palace.

Day 6 Taiwan - Old vs New

History shall prevail

Rain and rain and rain. The last thing we wanted is rain. Aren't we get enough raining in Malaysia?
Day 6, we went to the famous Yang Ming Shan( 阳明山). Please do not come during winter time as you will miss out a lot of attractions. Yes again, due to fog, we are not allowed to go to the top. So we went to the Guangfu Building instead, just on the way to the top of the mountain.

Tian Yian Cafe (天苑) @ Viva Home

LV - Lama(Tibetan) Vegan

Tian Yian Cafe (天苑)

A so called half German friend of mine recommend us to have dinner at this Tian Yian(天苑) Cafe just a street behind Viva Home. He is been bragging us for a week, praising their delicious food and environment.
So we give it a try.

It is operated by a Tibetan(喇嘛) from China. Never get to see the real owner, but the theme of the restaurant doesn't feel like it, a very classy 3 linked shop cafe with bunch of suited waiter & waitress.

The Front
From what I saw from the menu, this cafe serve fusion food. So many choices that, I took about 30 mins to place my order.
The price here is very reasonable, between Rm5 to Rm20 depends on the portion of the food.

Pork Sandwich with Fries - Rm12 with drinks
The pork is a vegan pork, the sauce is doing the job of replication the real pork taste. The texture however similar to canned pork. The fries I have to give credit, it doesn't feel and taste oily. In fact, I don't taste the oiliness that we usually have in normal fries.

[Event] - Animangaki 2013 - Day 1

We Define ourselves

Cosplay also known as costume play, which is an activity in which participants wear costumes with accessories to represent a character. It is a pop culture in Japan which brings it to a world phenomenon in 1990. We often see ComicCon, Anicon or Pax which is a huge event for geek in the North America or Europe.
In Malaysia, we have such event as well. Comic Fiesta(CF) is the well known event for cosplay. However Animangaki is the first time I heard of this. I'm always a big fans of games and anime myself, and been attending to CF since 2009, and once AFA in 2012. Some friends share this event to me, so I decided to give it a shot.
To experience the event, I'm thinking why don't I apply for a media/volunteer pass to fully experience the event since I'm a big fans. But I was too late to apply for the media pass, so volunteer pass was given at the end. Well, we have to pay of course, our soul and sweat, for helping them.
Benefit with such pass is we get to enter and out, backstage any where we want, but bare in mind we have to be responsible since they trust us and approve this pass. I really suggest blogger to apply such pass if you seriously want to understand the behind the scene.
We worked hard for this
The event take place on 24-25 August 2013 on Sunway Pyramid Convention Center starts from 10.00am to 6.00pm. For us volunteer, we had to come at 8am for a brief. We reached at 8.30am.

Die hard fans already bee queuing since 8am
The main coverage of this event is to discover indie spirit of a cosplayer. Indie is a term for independence, referring artists independent on something they worked on, and cosplayer is a perfect subject for this. If you ever cosplayed, the hard work behind for their fancy look is huge. The amount of money and time spend, just to bring us the joy of our living fantasies. So in return, as a blogger myself, I hope this coverage will bring them some positive push to continue their amazing job.
